The Super Bowl is the biggest event in sports, but even the most hyped football game sometimes needs a little extra entertainment value.

Especially this year's version of the game after the Seattle Seahawks dismantled the Denver Broncos by a final score of 43-8—and the game wasn't really that close on the field. Needless to say, something else was needed to keep eyes glued on the TV, unless you're a Seahawks fan, that is.

While this year's collection of commercials was a bit underwhelming and didn't lead to a lot of huge laughs, there were a few scattered gems that will be remembered for years to come.

Taking all of this into account, here are the best commercials from the 2014 Super Bowl with a breakdown of each.

Turbo Tax: Love Hurts

Man, this commercial couldn't have been any more perfect for this year's Super Bowl.

The game was already narrowed down to just two teams in the NFL facing off. Then the Broncos completely laid an egg in the first half and couldn't get off the mat, leaving just one fanbase rooting for its team.

It hurt to watch for all of us, Turbo Tax, but watching Sean bust a move for a good 30 seconds was a much-needed break.

 

Budweiser: Puppy Love

Sandwiched between a few commercials that didn't really hit the mark they were aiming for, Budweiser's ads were nearly perfect while the Bud Light commercials fell short.

This heartwarming ad by Budweiser made for a nice break from the game and made a few Broncos fans happy for at least a few seconds during a rough night.

Puppy Love was also called the best commercial by a few publications, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN:

Budweiser provided at least a little solace for fans getting sick of watching the whipping on TV. But with the soft advertisement for an alcoholic beverage targeted toward men, it might not have registered with the audience.

 

T-Mobile: #NoContract

Maybe this is just a personal favorite of mine, but watching Tim Tebow talk constantly about how he's not in the NFL is just laughable. The fact that he agreed to this commercial makes it clear he doesn't mind poking fun at himself.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere tweets his thoughts on the commercial and an article praising Tebow:

Apart from the jokes about Tebow finally making it to the Super Bowl—as hilarious as they were for about a minute—the irony of the currently unemployed signal-caller appearing in a commercial while his former team was getting gutted on the sport's biggest stage is just too perfect.

Will Tebow get a contract out of this ad? No, it might actually hurt his chances by making a mockery of the situation. But showing off his acting chops along with his analyst position for the SEC Network doesn't hurt his future.

 

Bonus! Newcastle: Mega Huge Football Ad

The best ad that nobody got to see during the Super Bowl came from Newcastle and Anna Kendrick, who combined to put together this hilarious spot.

For the record: Kendrick definitely qualifies as beer-commercial-babe kind of hot, but I'm also a guy who feels bad calling a girl "hot," especially when "beautiful" or "gorgeous" would suffice.

Audra Schroeder of The Daily Dot describes it perfectly when breaking down Newcastle's failed spot by simply stating, "Sorry, Budweiser. Newcastle wins."

In a Super Bowl that was filled with several spots that didn't quite measure up to ads of the past, this Newcastle commercial was one worth watching—especially when comparing it to other beer commercials that didn't come close.
